Context and Role: Individual contributor at VMware. Sole contributor to project lasting 12 weeks, although I was also doing my 'day job' vCenter lifecycle at the same time. I worked mostly with the engineering team responsible for the functionality, other UX designers and engineers from related products, customer support engineers with experience of the issue, and product marketing who initially came to us with the problem.

Background: vSphere add-ons had been losing out on bids to a competitor, VMTurbo. VMTurbo had produced an add-on to base vSphere that purportedly performed better for less cost. Below is a PowerPoint of an analysis that I conducted.
