vCenter Lifecycle - Install, Upgrade, Migrate
Context and Role: Individual contributor at VMware. I worked mostly with the software engineers implementing the screens and designing the software architecture, other UX designers who had worked on the project previously, visual designers, engineering management, and product marketing.
Background: Given the threat from cloud solutions like AWS and Azure, it's not surprising that vCenter lifecycle management was a high priority for VMware. I mostly worked on the vCenter 6.5 Appliance installation, upgrade and migration wizards. However, I was also involved initially with vCenter HA. The wizards received good feedback from customers, especially the Windows to (Linux) Appliance migration wizard. Interspersed with the actual wizard flow, are some diagrams describing the conceptual model and terminology.
